The upcoming 15th Annual Eagle Day Festival and Wildlife Art and Poetry Contest, sponsored by Dickson Mounds State Museum, Forbes Biological Station, Fulton County Arts Council, Havana Public Library District, Illinois River Biological Station, Mason County Arts Council, The Nature Conservancy, Therkildsen Field Station and the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service, will be on Saturday, February 7, 2015. This event will be held in conjunction with the Eagle Day Festival at Dickson Mounds Museum and is open to all students in Grades 1-12 in Fulton and Mason Counties.
Dickson Mounds Museum will exhibit all Nature Art and Poetry entries. We realize time is precious in the classroom so we ask that you encourage your students to work on projects at home for the contest. And, other than size limits, we encourage artists and poets to draw on their imagination and talent to express the wonder of Nature.
Entries are due at Dickson Mounds by Tuesday, January 13, 2015. Please find entry forms included. Two-dimensional artwork and poetry should be mailed (label provided) or delivered to Dickson Mounds Museum. Three-dimensional artwork must be hand delivered to the Museum between 8:30 am and 4:30 p.m. Monday - Sunday.
All non-placing entries will receive a ribbon of participation. 1st, 2nd and 3rd ribbons will be awarded in each grade, with Best of Show’s picked from all 1st place winners from Groups I, II and III. Best of Show winners will receive a $25.00 cash prize.
