The Nature Conservancy: Emiquon Preserve Recreation

The Nature Conservancy currently offers access to the newly restored Thompson Lake for fishing, boating, and ice skating.  Visit the Lake Access link for more information on where to obtain a permit and to download a set of rules. Access to The Nature Conservancy property is restricted to these activities and their designated areas.  Special permission is required to access any other part of the property for any other purpose.

Limited waterfowl hunting is allowed in-season on specific dates and times.  A lottery is held the morning of each designated hunting day for a limited number of hunting locations.  A kiosk detailing hunting information is located in front of The Nature Conservancy office.

Deer hunting is not allowed on The Nature Conservancy property.

In June of 2011, a newly constructed Visitor Access Area will open along the shore of Thompson Lake.  This area will offer wildlife viewing, bird-watching, limited hiking, and lake access.  It will also feature two visitor observatories with interpretive exhibits.
